Perlane is injectable cosmetic dermal filler that has been used to soften wrinkles and facial lines of individuals. It is also a popular filler for lip augmentation, facial depressions, and facial scarring. It can be used in both sexes.
What is Perlane made of?
Perlane is made from non-animal stabilized hyaluronic acid gel. Perlane is a non animal product and does not pose any risk of allergies. Hyaluronic acid is a resilient chemical and can easily adjust and mold to the facial contours. Unlike other dermatl fillers, no prior skin testing is required prior to the injection of Perlane.
How does Perlane work?
The hyaluronic acid in Perlane augments the body's natural supply, which has become depleted with age. The injected Perlane fills up scars, lines and wrinkles on the face. Perlane is not a permanent product and is broken down in the body. At most, the wrinkle free face remains for about 6-8 months after injection of Perlane. This is a much longer period than any of the currently available temporary dermal fillers.
What is advantage of Perlane?
Collagen injections, once very popular, are now obsolete in most cosmetic clinic. The availability of better, safer and longer lasting products have entirely replaced collagen. Perlane not only is much safer but also lasts longer than collagen as a dermal filler.
Can Perlane be used with other products?
Yes, Perlane can be combined with other cosmetic products such as Botox.
What Areas of the Face Can Be Treated with Perlane?
Perlane injections can be used to improve the contour of facial skin, decrease unsightly wrinkles, and reduce fine lines around the nose, folds, scars, and other facial skin depressions.
Common uses for Perlane® filler include:
Wrinkle correction
Diminishing worry lines, smile lines, crow’s feet, marionette lines at corners of the mouth, and smoker’s lines
Lip enhancement
Reducing the severity of nasolabial folds
Chin augmentation
Filling cheek depressions
Redefining lip border
Softening acne scars
Other, less common, uses for Perlane® filler include:
Filling hollows under the eyes
Creating a temporary eyebrow lift
Correcting facial depressions caused by fat loss
Softening the appearance of jowls
Restylane® vs. Perlane® Filler
Perlane® is primarily the same product as Restylane®, but Perlane® filler contains a larger concentration of hyaluronic acid. Because of this higher concentration of hyaluronic acid, Perlane® is usually used for larger folds, while Restylane® is better suited for smaller wrinkles or to maintain the results of a previous Perlane® injection.
Non-Surgical Rejuvenation Center in New York, NY headed by Board Certified Dermatologist Dr. Gary who is a board certified NYC Dermatologist with a New York City office in Manhattan, New York providing expert skin care, dermatology, and cosmetic dermatology services.
I personally see every new patient who visits our office. I am not just a physician, I am a Board Certified Dermatologist. My goal is, quite simply, to provide the type of dermatologic care which I would seek for my own family. This is a very important point, since physicians often use the phrase "Doctor's Doctor" to refer to those individuals who typically are selected by physicians themselves for personal care. I am confident that my practice fully meets that definition. This is the type of 5-star care and service that our patients expect, deserve and receive. I treat every patient the way I would want to be treated: with courtesy, dignity and respect. I carefully listen to their hair and skin-care concerns and offer a variety of options including a treatment plan that I believe will give them the best results
Dr Gary sees every patient himself and believes in personalized care. The Doctor does not employ any physician assistants, nurse practitioners, or other physician substitutes to do his treatment. He sees every patient himself at every visit.
A significant percentage of my Dermatology Conditions are diagnosed on listening to medical history of the patient alone, a further percentage on examination and the remainder on further investigation and my patients teach me the rest. It is clear to me that history and examination skills remain at the very core of my dermatology practice. Older Dermatologists like myself rely on history and physical to a greater degree than the younger dermatologists. I think that the pendulum has swung too far towards all these cosmetic procedures where the younger dermatologists are just doing cosmetic procedures and not listening to their patients. This is an important point because if the Dermatologist does not spend enough time with the patient the cosmetic procedures will not work.
